Problem Description

The following exceptions are seen in logs while exporting PDMs:

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded

Additionally, TMM appears slow when navigating in the Business UI during harvesting.

Problem root cause The error from the log indicates that the garbage collection process is not able to recover enough heap.
Solution or Workaround

The recommendation to overcome this error is to increase the heap size and restart the server. For more details on how to increase the memory, see the (6.1 Application Server Installation and Configuration section in the Talend Metadata Manager (TMM) Readme (specifically, the 6.1 Application Server Installation and Configuration > Application Server tab > Max Memory section).

A general best practice to avoid these errors is to monitor the memory usage over time and proactively adjust the heap size as needed.
