Unable to build a Big Data Job

Problem Description

When running a Job using JobServer, the following error occurs:

"Execution failed : java.lang.ArithmeticException: / by zero
[/ by zero]"

The lastGenerated.log file displays the following error message:

[ERROR] Failed to execute goal org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-assembly-plugin:2.5.5:single (default) on project job_rowGene: Failed to create assembly: Error creating assembly archive bin: Problem creating zip: Execution exception: Java heap space -> [Help 1]

The build Job fails while writing an archive file.

Root Cause

This may be due to one of the following causes:

  • Different Java instances used in Studio for compiler and installed JRE
  • Compiler compliance is not set to 1.8
  • Java heap memory is insufficient

Solution

From Studio:

  1. Ensure that the heap memory is set to a minimum of 4 GB or more (-Xmx4096m).
  2. Ensure that the Java interpreter is pointing to Java 1.8 (Window > Preferences > Talend).
  3. Ensure that the installed JRE is pointing to the same Java instance (Window > Preferences > Java > Installed JREs).
  4. Ensure that the compiler compliance level is set to 1.8 (Window > Preferences > Java > Compiler).
