Learn by doing: Configure IAM with MSSQL

Introduction

This article covers the steps to configure IAM to use MSSQL and provides additional installation information not covered in the Talend documentation.

Supported MSSQL versions and drivers

For a list of supported MSSQL versions, see the Talend Data Fabric Installation Guide for Linux and scroll down to the Talend Identity and Access Management section.

For the list of supported JDBC drivers for MSSQL supported versions, see the Microsoft JDBC Driver for SQL Server Support Matrix page.

Procedure

  1. Follow the steps on Changing Talend Identity and Access Management database (available in the Talend Help Center).

  2. Amend the iam.properties file by adding the idp.db.dialect parameter with the correct values.

  3. Request the correct username, password, and JDBC URLs from your MSSQL administrator, then update and save the file.

    An example of the file values is shown below:

    # IDP Settings modified
    idp.db.url=jdbc:sqlserver://mssql.hostname.test.fr:1433;databaseName=idp
    idp.db.driverClassName=com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
    idp.db.username=xxx
    idp.db.password=xxx
    idp.db.platform=SQLServerDictionary
    idp.db.dialect=org.hibernate.dialect.SQLServer2012Dialect
    # OIDC Settings modified
    oidc.db.driverClassName=com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
    oidc.db.url=jdbc:sqlserver://mssql.hostname.test.fr:1433;databaseName=oidc
    oidc.db.username=xxx
    oidc.db.password=xxx
    oidc.db.databasePlatform=org.apache.openjpa.jdbc.sql.SQLServerDictionary
    oidc.db.dialect=org.hibernate.dialect.SQLServer2012Dialect
