Exporting items from Talend Studio

Overview

You may need to export items from your project, such as Jobs, contexts, routines, metadata, and documentation. The following are common reasons for exporting these items:

  • Project backup
  • Job migration
  • Product upgrade

This article explains how to export these items from Talend Studio.

Environment

This procedure was written with:

  • Talend Open Studio for DI 5.0-r72978
  • JDK version: Sun JDK build 1.6.0_26-b03
  • Operating system: Windows XP SP3

Talend verified this procedure to be compatible with:

  • Data Integration releases: 4.2.3, 4.2.4, 5.0.0, 5.0.1, 5.0.2, 5.1.1

Procedure

  1. Right-click Job Designs in the Repository view. Select Export items option to export the items:

Note: If you want to export only one item, right-click on the item name (for example, right-click on the Job name) in the Repository view and select Export items to export the specified item.

  2. Browse to a directory or an archive file path. For better backup and migration, Talend recommends that you export the items to an archive file.

Select the items you want to export and select Export Dependencies to export all dependent items. For example, when you export a Job, all the routines, contexts, and metadata used in the Job will be also exported if this option is chosen.

If you want to export all the items, click Export All:

  3. Click Finish to finish the export.
