Re: Error Connecting MS SQL Server 2005

Hello
Unknown server host name 'SSS\SQLEXPRESS'.

Maybe you can try 'SSS\\SQLEXPRESS' or type in the ip address.
Best regards

Re: Error Connecting MS SQL Server 2005

Hello,
I'm using SQLexpress as well.
It's work fine but I don't specify SQLEXPRESS like you.
So just put SSS as server name, it should be OK.

Re: Error Connecting MS SQL Server 2005

Hello,
I'm using SQL 2005, it work fine.
You have to allow remote connexion on your SQL server.
I think that is not allowed by default.
and give the good right to your sql user.

Re: Error Connecting MS SQL Server 2005

For named instances, Additional Parameters field gets the instance name, not the standard server/instance.
Try using:
Additional Parameters: instance=SQLEXPRESS

Re: Error Connecting MS SQL Server 2005

What was the final connection string? I'm running sql server express 2008. What do you have in the Server entry. Mine is U0102571-XPA, which is my computer name. It's also how the managment studio references the database as well

Thanks Brian. You made it work.
This is what I have done.
Additional Parameters: instance=SQLEXPRESS
Restart service with TCP/IP enabled

Re: Error Connecting MS SQL Server 2005

Hi All
I am new to talend.
I have created an oracle connector which works fine.
I have tried creating a connection to SQLExpress 2012.
I have the latest Java installed.
I have tried the connection with both Named Pipes and IP address, both enabled with port 1433 as the default port.
I have tried both with and without the additional parameter: instance=SQLEXPRESS
Every time I try a check I get "Connection failure. You must change your database settings"
tried all sorts of connections even.
jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://mypc:1433;instance=SQLEXPRESS
Anyone have any idea what may be wrong.
