Why do I see "Unknown column 'newColumn'"?

Question:

Why do I get the SQL Exception: Unknown column 'newColumn' ?

Answer

You didn't change the default column name in the schema. By default, a new column in a schema is named newColumn. You must change the name of each schema column to match the names of the columns in your target database. For example, assume a table defined with the following SQL command:

CREATE TABLE `person` (
   `id` int(5) NOT NULL,
   `name` varchar(11) default NULL,
   PRIMARY KEY  (`id`)
 )

The schema columns of the output component should be id and name.
