JVM.terminated exit code=13

This error occurs when launching Talend Studio. This article explains the probable causes of the problem and offers troubleshooting advice.

This error can occur when launching Talend Studio.

JVM.terminated exit code=13

The following are the probable causes:

  • Incomplete product installation
  • Bad JDK version

The following are solutions for the possible causes.

Incomplete product installation

Unzip the product archive file again with a stable unarchiver. The tool 7-zip is recommended by Talend.

Bad JDK version

Talend Studio requires Sun JDK 1.8 or higher. Verify that you have that version or higher installed on your machine. Also, note that:

  • Other vendors' JDKs may work sometimes, but only Sun JDK is certified by Talend.
  • If you are on a 32-bit machine, you should install the 32-bit JDK and click on the xxx-win(32)-x86.exe icon on Windows or execute xxx-gtk-x86.sh on Unix/Linux to launch Talend Studio.
  • If you are on a 64-bit machine, you should install the 64-bit JDK and click on the xxx-win(32)-x86_64.exe on Windows or execute xxx-gtk-x86_64.sh on Unix/Linux to launch Talend Studio.

Very helpful - I missed the fact that I had both 32 and 64 bit JVMs installed and when setting up JAVA_Home variables I specified the 32bit version.

Thanks for this resource above.
