Importing items into Talend Studio

This article explains how to import items into Talend Studio from items previously exported as backups.

This procedure was written with:

  • Talend Open Studio for DI 5.0-r72978
  • JDK version: Sun JDK build 1.6.0_26-b03
  • Operating system: Windows XP SP3

Talend verified this procedure to be compatible with:

  • Data Integration releases: 4.2.3, 4.2.4, 5.0.0, 5.0.1, 5.0.2, 5.1.1

  1. Right-click Job Designs in the Repository view. Select the Import items option.

  2. In the next window, browse to a root directory or an archive file path where your exported items are stored. A list of items appears in the table; select the items you want to import. Choose the overwrite existing items option if the items already exist in your repository and you want to overwrite them. Click Finish.

Note: If you don't see a list of items, or see the error "No valid items found in current sources", it could be for one of these reasons:

    • There are no items in the current sources. Make sure that you have selected the correct directory or archive file path. If you are importing items from a directory, select the root directory that is normally the 'YourProjectName' directory.

    • You are importing items that were exported from a newer version of Talend Studio into an older version of Talend Studio, which is not allowed. Talend's products are backwards compatible, meaning that you can import items from an older version of Talend Studio into a newer version, but not the other way around.

  3. If the newly imported items do not appear, click the refresh button to refresh the Repository view.
