Critical issue with Hive when running with IP address rather than Host

Hi
I am facing a serious problem and i am shocked with it.I am creating a job in Talend BD using tHive components along with clouderaVM.
When i am using IP address instead of hostname in hadoop configuration file core-site.xml,it gives me error as:
Exception in component tHiveInput_1
java.sql.SQLException: Query returned non-zero code: 12, cause: FAILED: Hive Internal Error: java.lang.RuntimeException(Error while making MR scratch directory - check filesystem config (null))

But when i change IP address to localhost it works perfectly but in that case tHDFS components fails to connect to ClouderaVM.
So i cant works on both Hive and HDFS same time.
Please help me how i can resolve it.

Re: Critical issue with Hive when running with IP address rather than Host

Hi,

Can you use hadoop fs -ls / in server to see if your hadoop configuration is successful? Can you open hadoop 50070 home page?

Best regards

Re: Critical issue with Hive when running with IP address rather than Host

Hi xdshi
I have checked using that commonds. My Hadoop is working and running namenode at 8020 and jobtracker at 8021.
I have a temporary solution to it.When i start my Cloudera-VM,i do changes in /etc/hosts file by changing loopback address to IP adress of the system as Hadoop start at 192.168.77.211.But when i restart my VM it automatically creates loopback address(127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost). This time if i don't do change in /etc/hosts file,Hive fails to start,as it tried to liesten at 127.0.01:8020,but my Hadoop is running at 192.168.77.211.
So please provide me permanent solution to it.
